Caught something on the Discovery Channel last night about human's 'Sixth Sense'. It looked at how we take in far more about the world than we are consciously aware off and that when people act on hunches or gut feelings, they are in fact acting on this unconsciously gathered information. The program went on to look at how experiences are remember visually and that trying to put them into words can effect are ability to recall that information. See
Words get in the way: talk is cheap, but it can tax your memory which points to the fact that out visual memory is more primitive than the conscious, language driven, mind. This suggests that the ability to coordinate the visual memory and conscious mind is a skill that can be trained and improved.
